The Mazda3 MPS will be launched on March 2 for RM 175K, according to Bermaz Motor, the official and exclusive distributor of the Mazda brand in Malaysia. Created by Mazda Performance Series, the official sports and performance division of Mazda, the Mazda3 MPS is powered by a 259 hp, 380 Nm 2.3-litre turbocharged MZR DISI engine.
Determined to grab a bigger share of the lucrative mid-size segment, Bermaz Motor announced that the local assembly of the Mazda3 sedan and hatchback, presumably with the current 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre engines, had begun last month at Inokom’s assembly plant in Kedah. Production is projected to hit 3000 units a year. The finalised prices of the CKD Mazda3 variants will only be revealed on March 2.
From March 2–6, the Mazda3 MPS and CKD variants will be showcased at the “Mazda Motor Show” on the ground floor of the 1 Utama Shopping Centre, where the full Mazda model range—including the Mazda2, Mazda5, Mazda6,Mazda8, MX-5, RX-8, CX-7 and CX-9—will be in attendance.
